An emerging FinTech company wanted to develop a mobile banking app that combines classic banking functions with modern utility management. The challenge: integrating PSD2-compliant banking APIs, real-time payment processing, and management of utilities such as electricity, gas, and internet — all in a single, user-friendly app. Simultaneously, strict regulatory requirements from BaFin and European data protection directives had to be met.
We developed a comprehensive mobile banking app with PSD2 integration that uses open banking APIs to aggregate accounts from different banks. Integrated utility management enables comparison and switching of electricity, gas, and internet providers directly from the app. Biometric authentication, end-to-end encryption, and a fraud detection system ensure the highest security. A budgeting tool with AI-powered savings recommendations rounds out the user experience.
The platform recorded user growth of over 200% in the first year. 100% compliance with BaFin requirements and PSD2 directives was achieved and maintained. The app manages transactions worth over 50 million euros monthly. The Net Promoter Score stands at 72 — significantly above the industry average of 34 in banking. Over 15,000 users have switched their utility contracts through the platform, saving an average of 240 euros annually.
