The freight market was largely organized analogously β carriers and shippers communicated by phone and email, loading capacities went unused, and transport routes were rarely optimized. Empty runs accounted for up to 30% of all trips, which was both economically and ecologically unacceptable. Real-time information about freight locations did not exist, and price discovery was opaque and time-consuming.
We developed a digital logistics hub that brings shippers and carriers together on one platform. An AI-powered matching algorithm connects available freight capacities with transport orders in real-time. Route optimization considering traffic, toll fees, and driving time regulations minimizes empty runs. GPS-based real-time tracking gives shippers continuous insight into transport status. An automated billing system simplifies financial communication between all parties.
Transport costs for platform users decreased by an average of 30%. The share of empty runs was reduced from 30% to under 12%. Over 2,000 carriers and 500 shippers actively use the platform. The average time for freight booking dropped from 4 hours to 15 minutes. Through route optimization, an estimated 12,000 tons of CO2 are saved annually.
